In Songs of Conquest's case, players who enjoy turn-based combat and strategy games along with the adventure genre will feel right at home. Indie publishers such as Coffee Stain are starting to gain excellent traction with players because of their community-driven approach, which is evident in Songs of Conquest. Coffee Stain has proven to be capable and willing to try its hand at more than one genre, and hasn't been pigeon-holed as a result, with games like Valheim and Deep Rock Galactic key examples. Songs of Conquest, however, utilizes similar gameplay features and styles to the Might & Magic series, making it a great replacement while Ubisoft continues to neglect it. Legacy released in 2013, meaning it's been close to a decade since players were able to experience a new entry in the franchise. As with other games like Tom Clancy's Elite Squad, Ubisoft shut down servers for Might & Magic X: Legacy in 2021, which made most of the game unplayable given its DRM features. While some players continue to enjoy the older Might & Magic games, the desire for something new - the desire for something new is still going strong within the series' community.
